Information We Collect
ProTECt Base collects the minimum data necessary to provide safety services:
- Account Data: Name, email, phone number, and emergency contacts you explicitly provide
- Location Data: GPS coordinates collected only during an active emergency event or when you manually trigger safety check-ins
- Device Data: Battery level, Bluetooth connection status, and sensor readings (Hall-effect, accelerometer) — used locally on-device only
- Recording Data: Video and audio captured during emergency protocol events, encrypted end-to-end
How We Use Your Data
- Emergency dispatch and notification to your designated contacts
- Service improvement and device analytics (anonymized)
- Compliance with legal obligations
Data Security
All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.3. Recordings and location data are encrypted at rest using AES-256. We never sell your personal data to third parties.
Data Retention
Emergency event data is retained for 90 days, after which it is permanently deleted unless required for legal proceedings. Account data is retained until account deletion.
Your Rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your data at any time by contacting privacy@magshieldguardian.com. We respond to all requests within 30 days.

Acceptance
By purchasing and using the ProTECt Base device and ProTECt Base services, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the device or services.
Device Usage
- The ProTECt Base is a personal safety accessory. It is not a substitute for professional security services or law enforcement.
- The 30-Second Grace Period Protocol is an automated response system. The user retains the ability to cancel at any time during the grace period.
- Interchangeable Defense Cartridges must only be used in accordance with local laws and regulations.
Subscription Services
MagShield Premium OS includes 24/7 dispatch monitoring and cloud recording. After the initial 3-month free trial, the subscription auto-renews at $4.99/month. You may cancel at any time through your account settings.
Limitation of Liability
ProTECt Base is not liable for any damages arising from misuse, unauthorized modification, or failure to maintain the device in working condition. The device is designed to assist in emergency situations but does not guarantee safety or prevention of harm.

FCC (United States)
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

Bluetooth
The Bluetooth word mark and logos are registered trademarks owned by Bluetooth SIG, Inc. The ProTECt Base uses Bluetooth 5.2 LE technology.
MagSafe
MagSafe is a trademark of Apple Inc. The ProTECt Base is designed to be compatible with Apple MagSafe and universal magnetic accessories.
WEEE Compliance
This product should not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle responsibly at designated electronic waste collection points.
Safety Information
Siren Warning
The ProTECt Base produces a 115dB siren at 1 meter. Prolonged exposure at close range may cause hearing damage. Use with caution in enclosed spaces.
Strobe Warning
The 500-lumen strobe light may trigger seizures in individuals with photosensitive epilepsy. If you have a history of seizures, consult a physician before use.
Battery Safety
- Do not expose the device to temperatures above 60°C (140°F)
- Do not puncture, crush, or disassemble the battery
- Use only MagSafe-certified or MagSafe-compatible chargers
- If the battery swells or leaks, discontinue use immediately
Pepper Gel Cartridge (where applicable)
- Check local laws before purchasing pepper gel cartridges
- Do not discharge in enclosed spaces without ventilation
- Keep away from children and pets
- In case of exposure, flush with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention
Medical Device Interference
The device contains magnets and wireless transmitters. If you use a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, consult your physician and maintain at least 6 inches (15 cm) of separation.
Tracking & Surveillance Laws
Data Privacy Regulations
ProTECt Base complies with major global privacy frameworks:
- GDPR (Europe): All personal data of EU users is processed lawfully, transparently, and for specified purposes. Users have the right to access, rectify, and erase their data. Data processing is based on explicit consent or legitimate interests (e.g., emergency dispatch).
- CCPA (California): California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of their data. ProTECt Base does not sell personal data.
- LGPD (Brazil): Brazilian users are afforded similar rights to GDPR, including data access, correction, anonymization, and portability. Legal bases for processing include consent and legitimate interest in emergency situations.
Location Tracking Laws
The ProTECt Base device only accesses GPS location data during an active emergency event or when the user manually triggers a safety check-in. Location data is never collected or transmitted in the background outside of these scenarios. Users must explicitly consent to location access during initial setup, and consent can be revoked at any time through device settings. In jurisdictions requiring heightened consent (e.g., GDPR Art. 7), location processing is suspended until unambiguous consent is reconfirmed.
Recording Consent Laws
Audio and video recording during safety events is governed by state-specific wiretapping laws:
- One-Party Consent States: In the majority of U.S. states, recording is lawful if at least one party to the conversation (the user) consents. ProTECt Base's recording during an emergency is considered reasonable under the circumstances.
- Two-Party (All-Party) Consent States: In states such as California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Washington, all parties must generally consent to recording. ProTECt Base activates recording only during active emergency events where there is a reasonable belief of imminent harm, which may fall under the "emergency exception" in certain jurisdictions. Users are advised to be aware of their local laws.
ProTECt Base always displays a prominent visual indicator when recording is active, and users can review and share recordings through their secure account dashboard.
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
The ProTECt Base device and associated services are not intended for children under the age of 12. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 12. For users aged 12 and older, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where applicable by:
- Obtaining verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from minors
- Providing parents with the ability to review, delete, and control their child's data
- Maintaining reasonable security measures to protect children's information
- Not conditioning a child's participation on disclosing more data than reasonably necessary
Data Retention
ProTECt Base follows strict data retention schedules:
- Emergency event data (recordings, GPS logs, sensor data): Retained for 90 days, then permanently deleted unless required for active legal proceedings or law enforcement requests.
- Account data (name, email, emergency contacts): Retained for the duration of the account's existence. Upon account deletion, all associated data is purged within 30 days.
- Subscription and billing data: Retained for the period required by financial regulations (typically 7 years) and then anonymized or deleted.
- Analytics data: Anonymized and retained indefinitely for product improvement, with no personally identifiable information attached.
Users have the right to request deletion of their data at any time by contacting privacy@magshieldguardian.com. We respond to all deletion requests within 30 days (or as required by applicable law).
Law Enforcement Requests
ProTECt Base takes user privacy seriously. Our policy for handling law enforcement data requests:
- We require a valid subpoena, court order, or warrant before disclosing any user data to law enforcement.
- For emergency requests (imminent danger of death or serious injury), we may voluntarily disclose information if we have a good faith belief that the emergency requires immediate disclosure.
- We will notify affected users of law enforcement requests unless prohibited by law or in cases of imminent harm.
- We maintain a transparency report published annually detailing the number and types of law enforcement requests received.
- We challenge overbroad or unlawful requests where possible and push back against gag orders that prevent user notification.
